Wow, there are so many types of ice cubes!

As consumers, we frequently purchase ice in beverages at restaurants, ice bags at convenient stores, or bulk ice delivery for events and parties, but did you realize there are many types of ice cubes that come in unique shapes and sizes.

In fact, there are 9 different types of ice cubes which are used in different services and industries.
This week we will highlight 3 types of ice cubes:

  • Half dice cube – A clear hard cube with a rhomboid shape and nearly 100% ice to water ratio. The half dice cube is typically used for ice dispensing, mixed drinks, and carbonated beverages.

  • Full dice cube – A clear hard cube with a rhomboid shape, which is double the size of the half dice cube and is nearly 100% ice to water ratio. The full dice cube is typically used for the same as the half dice cube but also for banquet services.

  • Regular cube – A clear hard cube with a rhomboid shape and nearly 100% ice to water ratio. The regular cube is typically used for the same purposes as the dice cubes, but is also what you might get out of an ice maker in a residential sized freezer.
