Fourth of July Safety Tips from Emergency Ice

The Fourth of July is one of the most spectacular holidays celebrated throughout Dallas and the entire country. Around Dallas and Fort Worth, there will be an endless supply of firework displays and fairs to attend as well as personal shows that the pyrotechnic enthusiasts will put on themselves in their own front lawn. No matter which firework display you plan to attend, the safety of your friends and family members should be most important.

As your Dallas ice company, Emergency Ice wants you and your loved ones to be safe this Fourth of July. If you’ll be attending a fair and public firework display, remember to keep a close eye on the little ones; they will want to run off every chance they get to get on a ride or grab another snow cone. When there are hundreds of people around, it is hard to keep track of all the kids and get to every attraction at the fairs. If possible, go with a large group or multiple families of all ages; the older kids can help keep track of the younger ones as they run around to the different events. Make sure one or more of the kids has a cell phone so you can call them or they can call you when it’s time to meet back up. Also, it is good to have a central meeting place that everyone can get to, and set a time every couple of hours to meet back there to make sure everyone is still together and safe. If you are at a fair or Fourth of July event and you see an Emergency Ice company stand or truck supplying the event with ice delivery and supplies, set that as your central meeting place. Our Dallas ice team will be glad to help out.

If you plan to put on your own firework display in DFW, there are a few firework safety tips you should consider to keep your friends, family, and kids safe:

  • Never allow young children to handle fireworks, it is just too dangerous at a young age.
  • If the older children use fireworks, be sure they are always under close adult supervision.
  • Be sure to light fireworks outdoors in a clear area away from others, houses, and flammable materials.
  • Light only one firework at a time, and keep a safe distance after lighting.
  • Never ignite fireworks inside a container.
  • If a firework does not go off, do not try to re-light it; dispose them in water and safely discard them.
  • Keep a bucket of water nearby to fully extinguish fireworks that don’t go off or in case of a fire.

Fireworks are meant to be enjoyed, and you can enjoy them much more knowing your family is safe. Take extra precautions this Fourth of July and your holiday will be a blast!

Whether you are going to attend a public firework display or host your own personal firework extravaganza, Emergency Ice wants you and your family to have fun and be safe. Have a great Fourth of July and Happy Independence Day!
